IGN announces best games of 2008
[ December 30th, 2008 ] Posted in » Otakuism, Video games

Seeing as I only care about the PS3, here they are:

Metal Gear Solid 4 has won a number of awards: Best action, Best Graphics and it was named PS3 game of the year.

LittleBigPlanet won a few too: Best platform, Best artistic design and many others.

Best fighting: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
Best music: Rock Band 2
Echochrome
Burn out Paradise
Best RPG: Fallout 3
Best shooter: Resistance 2
Best RPG: Valkyria Chronicles
Best original score: Eternal Sonata

I’m not exactly a fan of Resistance - played multi player at a friend’s house many moons ago, but I didn’t find it all too impressive. Also, I’m not a fan of Eternal Sonata - played the demo, but didn’t find it all too interesting.

Do wish they a reward for “Most exciting,” which of course would go to EndWar. Seeing my infantry trying to fire back at the enemy while tank shells raining down on them is too much to ignore. Definitely not the best strategy (Rock-Paper-Scissors type combat), but most certainly deserves something. Maybe it’s in another list?

Btw, Persona 4 won best PS2 game of ‘08 - w00t!

Can view the rest here. Do you agree with the list?

The Butterfly song

I’ve been playing this song so much on my DDR! …Oh, yeah! I almost forgot: I got DDR a few days ago, and have been playing everyday since then. I prefer the faster songs; the slow songs are… too slow. Which do you prefer, the slow or the fast songs?

School Rumble 7

Read it a few hours ago… things are getting interesting. Yakumo Tsukamoto is my favorite girl, and I’m really glad that she’s getting more involved in the story (should I be happy that she’s getting more into Harima-san’s life?…)

I just wonder… and here’s spoilers, so read for your own sake… what do think as Harima and Yakumo as a couple? Back when Harima had a beard, I thought it would be weird for him to even get a girl, but now that he’s shaved and more confident about his *hair*, he seems more respectable than before… you know, this may sound crazy, but I don’t want to see Yakumo hurt. Call me crazy, but I really don’t want to see her get hurt… it’s a manga and all, but, y’know, that doesn’t mean a person can’t fall for a certain character.

Sawachika Eri-sama is also falling for Harima as well. Volume 6, which I had finished a few minutes before starting volume 7, was sort of surprising when Sawachika-sama and Harima-san were dancing at the end. The tragic thing about this manga is that Sawachika-sama is getting less and less attractive (by comparison). I just wonder what will happen to Harima-san? Tenma-chan is as clueless as usual, Ichijo-san is falling for… that guy, whatever the hell his name is. Hanai-san is… barely involved, and Takano-san and that other girl (I forget her name ^^) are…, well, making scarce appearances.

She doesn’t look this good anymore… waauuggghhhh!

While Sawachika-sama doesn’t look cute in a school uniform, she still looks “uber” sexy in her shooting range outfit. She also seems to be moving away from the group (Tenma and those others)… she’s more involved with Harima, but seems less involved with everyone else. Not only that, but she also seems to know guys. I found this surprising: a guy “picked her up” and took her home (as in, drove her home). I mean, who the hell is this guy? I thought it was Harima-san, but… nope. Who the hell does this guy think this guy is?? Or something?

Still love School Rumble as much as the first time I read it. It doesn’t have as much jokes as the early volumes, but it’s still silly enough to make me laugh.

Natasha Bedingfield

I am now an official Natasha Bedingfield fan. She’s an awesome singer, and I just love her voice. I’m not a fan because of this image, mind you.

Obama = socialist?

(CNN) — Sen. John McCain stepped up his rhetoric against his Democratic rival on taxes in his weekly radio address Saturday, comparing his plan to “socialist” programs.

The remarks were part of a theme McCain has used since the final presidential debate, but his most recent comments were the first time he used the word to describe Sen. Barack Obama.

“You see, [Obama] believes in redistributing wealth, not in policies that help us all make more of it. Joe, in his plainspoken way, said this sounded a lot like socialism,” McCain said Saturday.

In an interview with ABC last week, Wurzelbacher said Obama’s proposal to raise taxes by 3 percent on those making $250,000 and over is a “very socialist view.”

[...]

McCain also said in his radio address, “At least in Europe, the socialist leaders who so admire my opponent are up front about their objectives. They use real numbers and honest language. And we should demand equal candor from Sen. Obama. Raising taxes on some in order to give checks to others is not a tax cut; it’s just another government giveaway.”

[...]

I think I’m falling for McCain. At first, I thought that Obama was the better candidate. After watching O’Rielly’s interview with Obama, I had determined that Obama and McCain were terrible candidates… Perhaps there’s more to McCain than I thought.

There’s a book that I found in Borders that I might get - it’s called “the Obama Nation.” The gist of it is that Obama’s policies will not help America, which I can agree with, but I didn’t read any of it. Anyone else read it?

Tsukamoto figure

This is a Tsukamoto figure, not. This is actually Shiki Ryougi, from Kinoko Nasu’s light novels. She does look like Tsukamoto, though, right?

The only difference is the hair and the eye color. Tricky, but orgasmic…

You can buy the figure at Good Smile.
